Today’s engine management systems are a far cry from the way we used to do things back in the day!  Tweaking airflow meters, installing resistors on sensors, pushing buttons on a keypad with a tiny one line LCD screen… all have virtually gone the way of the dinosaur.

These days, laptops and extremely powerful ECUs with ultra fast processors give us full control over all operating parameters, completely eliminating the trickery and band-aid fixes formerly necessary to coax additional performance out of an otherwise-stock car.  And man, it is a good thing.

These ECUs can provide outstanding power along with excellent driveability, fuel economy and reliability.  However, the ability for them to do so relies solely on the programming within.

Fortunately, we have years of experience with the best aftermarket systems for the Miata, specializing in tuning both Megasquirt and Hydra Nemesis standalone engine management platforms.

Normally aspirated, supercharged, or turbo, we do it all.  Below, you’ll find pricing on the most common services we offer for installation and engine calibration.

If you have a different ECU or setup, please feel free to contact us with your specific needs.

We do a head stand, crawl up under the dash, remove your factory ECU and install the Megasquirt.

Megasquirts install in the OEM location, and a bracket is fabricated to utilize the factory mounts.  A signal line from the intake manifold to the onboard MAP sensor is also installed, and basic setup of the ECU software is performed.

You’ll also need a wideband oxygen sensor and controller; you’re welcome to provide your own, but we have had excellent results with and highly recommend the latest AEM UEGO 4.9 LSU for it’s reliability and ease of installation.  It also never needs to be recalibrated.  We will connect the output from the wideband to the Megasquirt.

A gauge is optional, but a welcome addition that will allow you to monitor air/fuel ratios on the fly.  Common installation points are in a pod on the A-pillar, in the center console, or in a dash vent.  The choice is yours.

  • Megasquirt PnP installation and initial calibration  $100
  • Wideband O2 sensor controller installation  $75
  • Wideband gauge mounted in your choice of location  $75  A-pillar pod add $50
  • DIY Autotune Megasquirt PnP2  NA  $799   NB  $839
  • DIY Autotune Megasquirt PnP Pro   all  $1199
  • AEM Uego LSU 4.9 wideband controller w/ gauge  $189

Hydras slip in behind the glove box on the passenger side, and the extension harness has to be routed around the ventilation control system.  A line is routed from the intake manifold to the onboard MAP sensor, and initial calibration of software and sensors is performed.

The Hydra comes complete with it’s own proprietary wideband oxygen sensor; unfortunately a gauge is not available.

Hydra Nemesis EMS and wideband installation  $150.00
Hydra Nemesis EMS Gamma  $1895

All of our dyno tuning is performed on a state-of-the-art Dynojet 424x.  Dynojet has been the industry standard for power measurement for over 30 years.

Every Miata is a little different, and the Eddy-current load cell provides real time torque output which allows us to calibrate your specific setup to MBT (Maximum Brake Torque) quickly, accurately and safely.

Idle, part-throttle, full-throttle and fuel economy are all covered.  If you want every last little bit of reliable power, this is the way to go.

You will be provided with a dyno plot that indicates maximum horsepower, torque and fuel mixture across the RPM scale.

Normally aspirated  $500
Forced induction to 8 psi  $600
Forced induction to 15+ psi  $700

Our road calibration is performed with power and reliability in mind.  We utilize datalogs, a wideband oxygen sensor and detonation detection during the entire process.

Power pulls are performed within the confines of a nice, private section of flat pavement.  Part throttle, driveability, cruise and fuel economy are dialed in with a variety of safe real world conditions that ensure smooth performance.

This service will get your Miata within 5-10% of it’s maximum safe power capability, at a cost that is significantly less than a dyno tune.

Normally aspirated  $350
Forced induction to 8 psi  $450
Forced induction to 15+ psi  $550

We offer remote tuning for situations where it is not possible or feasible to bring the car to us.

Utilizing TeamViewer software, we are able to take control of the laptop connected to your ECU and calibrate the system, all in real time while you are running the car on a dyno.

Instructions and information are passed back and forth via video chat or instant messaging.

Normally aspirated (3 hours)  $400
Forced induction to 8 psi  (4 hours) $500
Forced induction to 15+ psi  (5 hours) $600
Additional hours  $100 ea

Remote datalog tuning is provided for customers who are in need of tuning support but do not have a dyno readily available.  It is not intended to replace an actual dyno tune, but we can get you close, and your car will be making good, safe power.

Datalog calibration is based on an exchange of emails; initially you provide us with information about your car’s specific setup.  We will send you an appropriate base map to upload to your ECU, and then the fun begins!

You drive the car around and send us a datalog of the session.  We then analyse the information in the log, make appropriate changes, and send you a revised map to upload.  This process continues until we are satisfied with the calibration; please note this can take a few days to complete.

Normally aspirated  (8 revisions)  $250
Forced induction to 8 psi  (12 revisions)  $350
Forced induction to 15 psi  (16 revisions)  $450
